The federal government has taken another step to stop the New World screwworm ( NWS ) from entering the country as the U.S. Department of Agriculture ( USDA ) has once more closed the border to livestock imports.
A new NWS case being reported in Mexico “raises significant concern about the earlier reported information shared by Mexican officers,” according to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and USDA, which has halted original plans to reopen the southern border ports that were scheduled for a mid-July time.
