Although the months we consider summers are behind us, fishing on Baffin Bay in September and October still feels like summer. On average, we do not start seeing any significant cool flanks until November, and the temperature is still lingering. The seafood remain deeper as a result of the still-high water temperature. As they venture out to feed, cottages and ocean still have some fish on them early in the morning, late at night, and into the night.
The time has come for live bait to change. For the parties that prefer to fish with artificial fish, we have started switching to life shrimp and plastics while still using lived croaker when it is available.
Due to the fact that many of these enormous rocks are typically outside in deeper water, our distinctive rock system is also home to a sizable population of speckled trout. Even though the water may be four, five, or occasionally perhaps six feet deep, these stones can occasionally be seen protruding from the area or just inches below it. Please use caution when navigating or operating a ship around Baffin Bay if you’re fishing there.
When fishing for these rock formations, one advice I always give is to simply give the column some slack if an angler throws on top of one and gets caught using a live fish. Most of the time, one of three issues may occur while doing this. The hook will swim away on its own, be pushed away by the wind or present, or a fish may spot an easy meal and pick it up. Before we take the route of breaking the series, I ask my fish to wait for three or four minutes in a row. To keep the fish lower in the water tower and to help them slow down if the current is moving quickly, I tie either a pass fat or chatter weight on when fishing the deeper dropoffs and outside the laguna.
Don’t be afraid to try a fresh fish strategy, just keep in mind! This fall, had joy, take pleasure in the water, and cherish your relationships with loved ones!

It will take a lot to persuade me to keep the inlet and various strong surrounding areas to pursue fish on the flats because SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER are some of my favorite fishing months. Large fish season has arrived, so it’s time to release the 100lb leader and the reals in sizes 6, 8,000, and 10,000! When the weather allows, we’ll be in complete tarpon movement mode by this point, focusing as much as we can on them. I like to start by searching for rolling fish in 20 to 30 feet of warm water. I’ll use my Humminbird Solix, part test, and down check along the inlets and channel edges to look for fish if they’re not rolling a lot. They may get up early in the morning and late at night to party with the fisherman devoted to the 4 a.m. alarm clocks and heat up until dusk on the water. When the stars aren’t aligned, tarpon are typically eating everything or nothing, which may make it very difficult. However, the truth is that it is simpler to supply them than to deceive them, so when the time comes, couldn’t be afraid to throw a great live bait at them and hold on; you might be in for the once-in-a-lifetime fight.
There are other gold fish hanging around at the jetty’s that appear to be a little more” man friendly” when the Tarpon aren’t being friendly. How many of my guide trips, Kingfish, have been rescued by a group of sizzling’ kings? a lot!
Kingfish are plentiful at this time of year if you can find clear water or a few days of strong west wind to push the blue water in. When fishing for kingfish, it’s a good idea to use very large rattle traps, large silver spoons for cast, slow-rolling big jigs with plastic, or free-lining ribbonfish. Beware of the razor-sharp teeth and don’t forget about a metal head!
The redfish run tends to blow in around this time of year, so having a lower rod rigged and ready to cut down for bull reds when the time is right is also never bad. This helps me keep available for large schools. When they’re round, it never fails to send down a large drop shot-style equipment with life finger mullet. Redfish and tarpon both adore the DOA Bait Buster in root beer or radiance colour, even if your beloved is unnatural. Wishing you luck on the water and safety!
