Members of the outdoor fish industry resigned on August 20 to become federal agencies in charge of managing fish for the summer getting of Fisheries Community and Federal Agency Network, or Fish and Feds, abbreviated.
A sharing and conversation team led by the American Sportfishing Association aims to bring together governmental agencies, protection organizations, and recreational anglers to explore opportunities to improve access, habitat, and promotion of our nation’s outstanding fisheries.
The focus of the August meeting was on fish passage and how the federal government is removing instream barriers that prevent fish and other aquatic organisms from entering critical habitat through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law ( BIL ) and IRA funding. Game fish like salmon and striped bass is get significant spawning and rearing biodiversity and fly freely to and from the sea to total their life cycle by removing or remediating dams, culverts, and road-stream crossings. In headwater torrents during the warm summer months, different fish like trout can get cold water roosts.
BIL, which was passed in 2022, provided more than$ 2 billion in funding to various organizations to restore aquatic organism passage. 13 federal agencies formed the Federal Interagency Fish Passing Task Force through this funding in order to “accomplish a more systematic and creative approach to designing seafood passage activities under BIL and beyond.”
The Task Force also created an interactive map to record every piece of work that BIL money has been accomplished, as well as coordinating money for repair jobs, providing technical support, and identifying joint goals.

To date, nearly 400 tasks have received$ 530 million in cash to improve seafood passage, and in turn, increase pleasure fishing. The next organizations thank the sportfishing economy and our partners for coming together with us at this month’s meeting:
