Treatments for wood restoration are being given to northern landscapes that have just been affected by wildfires.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation increased its overall 2021 – 2023 commitment to$ 1.6 million by allocating$ 330,000 in grant funding in 2023 to assist in the restoration of habitat for elk, mule deer, and moose, pronghorn antelope, as well as sage grouse and turkey and other wildlife. These cash assisted in leveraging RMEF’s protection partners’$ 6.2 million.
Healthy habitat is defined as” healthy forests.” Elk and a large number of different kinds are positively impacted by these active jungle management projects, according to Kyle Weaver, RMEF president and CEO. Without the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, state and local governments, personal owners, and other partnerships, we acknowledge that this would not be possible.

Invading plant treatment, planting native plants and trees, aspen restoration, conifer thinning, fence removal and / or replacement with wildlife-friendly fencing, downstream restoration and repairing or building wildlife water resources are all examples of habitat enhancement jobs.
From 2021 through April 2023, 10 states have received 41 grants for fire repair, with job continuing through 2025. Here is a list of the most recent 2023 tasks that will be supported.

- Fishlake National Forest, BLM Color County District, Fillmore Wildlife Management Area, and personal property are all affected by the Halfway Hill Wildfire Rehabilitation and Stabilization.
Washington
- Asotin Creek Wildlife Area: Lick Creek Wildfire Native Grass Reseeding
- Restoration of the Vantage Highway Wildfire in the L. T. Murray Wildlife Area
Wyoming
- Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests & Thunder Basin National Grassland Ryan Wildfire Cheatgrass Treatment
- Medicine Bow, Routt National Forests, and Mullen Wildfire Musk Thistle Control in the Platte River Wilderness
