The U.S. State Department has agreed to pay a settlement in its case involving Texas and traditional media outlets, saying that the accused under the initial Biden administration had censored the media and restricted their right to freedom of speech through “blacklisting” and other types of rules.
In a joint lawsuit filed in 2023 by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Daily Wire and The Federalist, they claimed that Joe Biden’s administration’s officers had used an office at the State Department to thwart foreign media freedoms and had thereby violated the First Amendment rights of American stores.
