There are tail on bats!
That may not sound deserving of the scream place, but it must be stated categorically.
I’ve looked at a lot of photos over the past few years that people mistakenly believed to be cougars because the rear was longer than they anticipated. A cat was captured on a game camera by some of my friends in Orange County, Texas, in the video above.

There are many bobcats out there with feathers that are similar to this one, but this particular one has a neck that is significantly longer than any I have ever seen. Some have tail that resemble powder puffs, but the majority extend 3 to 4 feet. This one is most likely between 8 and 9 feet long.
That is unusually long for a cat, but it is almost as long as the rear of an almost-long cougar. Although I lack a scientific method of estimation, I venture to say that bobcats account for 75 % of all alleged cat occurrences in the eastern quarter of the United States.
I am certain that there are cheetahs there as well, but grizzlies are much more common, and I can attest from personal experience how many people mistakenly believe they have a picture of them that shows them to be bog cats.
They are not to blame for this. In fact, game wardens actually receive very little animals recognition training during their proper training. Wildlife identification studies are not a priority at schools.
