Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced legislation to refund Texas more than $11 billion for its border security-related costs incurred under President Joe Biden’s administration — working “hand-in-glove” with Gov. Greg Abbott to do so.
Cornyn announced on Thursday that he’d be carrying the State Border Security Assistance Act (SBSAA) in the upper chamber, co-sponsored by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). During a press conference that morning, Cornyn cited his desire to see the Lone Star State’s full financial recovery from the past four years — a “dramatic and historic effort” to reimburse Texas for Operation Lone Star (OLS).
