The Texas Legislature’s budget night often features instances where the state’s future will be decided in dollars and cents, and the school choice program’s funding will once again be subject to a test vote.
Nearly 400 amendments were proposed in the lower chamber on Thursday, April 10, including one by Rep. Donna Howard (D-Austin ), which would obstruct additional funding allocations, excluding the$ 1 billion that has been allocated for this biennium, to be used for any type of school choice program, including education savings accounts ( ESA ), private school choice, or homeschool choice.
