Gov. As Texas’s issues of infertility and inheritance citizen take center stage, Greg Abbott issued an executive order on Tuesday directing different state agencies to “investigate and remove” possible illegal “birth tourism” schemes.
The Rio Grande Valley-based Mission Regional Medical Center is alleged to have promoted “birth tourism” by selling South Texas birth packages in Mexico, and Abbott requested that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission ( HHSC ) do so in early July. He requested that the Office of the Attorney General ( OAG ) be contacted about any legal violations, including those involving this facility and those that have been discovered during their investigation.
