Gov. Greg Abbott announced that the State of Texas had submitted the necessary paperwork in order to request reimbursement from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security ( DHS) for border security.
According to a media release from Abbott’s office, the expected reimbursement did cover” costs incurred by the State of Texas to secure the border.” The governor claimed that the state spent “more than$ 10 billion of taxpayer money” to close the “dangerous gaps” created by the Biden administration’s refusal to close the border.
