More Texas Republican voters would “definitely” consider voting for Attorney General Ken Paxton in the 2026 U.S. Senate Republican primary than incumbent Sen. John Cornyn’s (R-TX), while more voters would “never consider” voting for Paxton than Cornyn, as indicated by a recent poll from the University of Houston (UH).
The poll, conducted by the UH Hobby School of Public Affairs, collected responses from 1,200 adults in Texas between January 13 and January 21. The poll collected data from both likely 2026 GOP primary voters and those who voted Republican in the 2022 and/or 2024 elections. The former population consisted of 556 individuals with a margin of error of +/– 4.16 percent, while the latter population was made up of 377 with a margin of error of +/– 5.05 percent.
