The University of Texas ( UT) System’s 14 schools are represented by a board of regents that has added a new section to its free speech guidelines that will require schools to refrain from officially supporting or opposing political or social issues and leave individual expression to community members.
” Asking jobs based on political or social pressures or emotions is not the responsibility of the UT System or UT organizations.” In their official capacity, institutions does not matter or show opinions on issues of the day, no matter how appealing some members of the university community may find them to be, according to the addition to the statement.
