NOAA Fisheries just announced they are unable to maintain success, despite the fact that the 2024 season for outdoor harvest will only be available for one day. This is because South Atlantic red fish has a carbon greater than any other time in history.

” NOAA is supposed to become America’s technology company. However, as long as NOAA Fisheries is content to use its highly questionable discard data and discredited data system, it can presumably make up any regulations it wants in response to a crisis that is n’t present, according to Center for Sportfishing Policy President Jeff Angers. NoAA appears to be trying to restrict the public’s exposure to an abundant natural tool for whatever reason. Angels should be very concerned about the direction this will take.
Fishermen are frustrated by an unyielding management system that severely limits their fishing opportunities despite the region’s growing community of red snapper. Other than draconian plans to reduce the number of fishing allowed to fish offshore and company challenges of more” Administrative” activities, NOAA officials have not provided any instruction during discussions at the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council meeting this week in Daytona.
” Instead of improving its pleasure data system to eliminate errors, NOAA is preferring to just remove boating opportunities”, said Angers. ” This is an agency on the wrong track”.
Red snapper have been subject to a strict management plan since NOAA’s stock assessment in 2008 revealed a significant overfished fishery. Although the population has dramatically increased in the past 16 years, angler access has not increased. NOAA Fisheries now asserts that many red snapper encounters are high during the closed season, with many of the fish not surviving release. Despite unreliable release and mortality data, anglers still have little legal access to fishing because of the abundance of fish.
