The first batch of President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominations have begun their Senate confirmation hearings, including two Texans: former Texas congressman and Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, and former member of the Texas Legislature Scott Turner.
Since Trump is yet to be officially inaugurated, the hearings cannot include a formal vote or decision by the Senate, but are conducted in anticipation of the upcoming presidency and in order to prepare for the votes after Trump takes office.
