When it produced not one but two Legacy Class ShareLunkers on Monday night, O. H. Ivie Reservoir maintained its status as the world’s best largemouth bass lake. Following Lane Olson of Mineola with a ShareLunker 652 weight of 13.26 pounds, Bobby Waldon of the same weight, who arrived with 14.75 pounds. Over the past four set times, O. H. Ivie has produced 41 Legacy Class ShareLunkers, including 15 in 2023.
According to Natalie Goldstrohm, coordinator of the Toyota ShareLunker, Texas is one of only a select few states where many anglers have the opportunity to catch trophy largemouth bass at one reservoir. When I got a call about another ShareLunker being caught from the same tank, the Toyota ShareLinener response staff was now en route to O. H. Ivie to pick up ShareLinker 652. O. H. Ivie has produced two Legacy Class ShareLunkers in one day during the set time for the next year in a row.
The following day, Olson traveled to O. H. Ivie to go fishing after picking up his companion at the Dallas airport on Sunday afternoon. After eating breakfast, they went out to sea, but Olson claimed that the hunting was difficult at first.
Around 3:30 p.m., we caught a couple of smaller fish, and I was nearly prepared to return home, said Olson. Finally I noticed one sitting on top of a tree, and it appeared to be in good health and was prepared to eat. She quickly turned on my Alabama setup after I threw it there. I knew it was a large fish, but not that great, as soon as I set the hook. From the way it appeared on the context, I assumed it might be an eight-pounder. We raised it to the ship, netted it, and exchanged awe-inspiring glances with one another. We immediately traveled to Elm Creek to obtain a weight on the certified level after I weighed the fish and the size indicated that it was over 13 pounds.
Olson instantly called the ShareLunker plan to start the entry process after the standard weight was registered. The fish even outperformed his private best, a Lake Fork largemouth bass that weighed 10.5 pounds.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Inland Fisheries Division workers from the San Angelo District, who came to get the fish, and Natalie were both very beneficial and enjoyable to work with, Olson continued. On January 12, Waldon and his family arrived in O. H. Ivie. During the thaw, they fished there until January 16. Over the course of three more times, he left and finally came back to fish.
This spring has been challenging for fishing at O. H. Ivie.
