According to recent samples gathered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department ( TPWD), starting at 12:01 a.m. on November 27, TX- 1 in the Galveston Bay will be closed to professional and recreational oysters produce.
The oysters economy and TPWD have collaborated to develop standards for closing areas for harvest. According to the abundance of oysters of legal size ( 3 inches or larger ) and the percentage of small oyster size ( 2- 2.9 inches ), the criteria include parameters for oyster species when they fall below specific thresholds. When the criteria are met, TPWD will resume all areas that are now closed for yield. The following areas will be accessible for people oysters harvest as of November 27:
