With close to 100 unique annual activities taking place across the state, Texas State Parks is kicking off the holiday period. Tourists of all ages can now take advantage of themed guided walks, crafting activities, education options, and more starting this quarter.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department ( TPWD ) strongly advises anyone considering visiting a Texas State Park to reserve their day pass in advance because some parks are anticipated to run out of space. Call ( 512 ) 389- 8900 to reserve a day online or over the phone.

November
At Ray Roberts Lake State Park on November 18, reduce some pre-holiday strain from 11 a.m. to 12 o’clock. Through Forest Bathing, you can experience the jungle in a healing manner if you’re interested in nature therapy. Through soaking in trees and other natural settings, forest bathing is a research-based exercise that promotes healing and wellness.
Create with wheat stalks at Goliad State Park and Historic Site on November 19 and November 25 from 10 to 11 a.m. For hundreds of years, children’s dolls have been made from wheat stalks. Individuals in this family-friendly event can make their own doll or position to get home using their imagination and creativity.
On November 22 at Guadalupe River State Park, visit a park ranger and learn more about wild birds by participating in bedtime and crafting activities.
Do n’t want to stay inside on Thanksgiving Day? On November 23, visit rangers for a guided vehicle tour of the canyon at Palo Duro Canyon State Park from 10 to 11: 30 in the morning. Participants in this trip will visit the playground and talk about what makes Palo Duro Canyon unique.
Texas state gardens have a variety of places for you to do so if you find that you want to shed off some calories after your Thanksgiving dinner or just want some quality time outside on November 24.
Learn about kayaking, healthy boating techniques, and the pleasures of paddling by hitting the water at Galveston Island State Park from 10 a.m. to 2- 4 pm on November 24. To understand how the canyon’s geography allows for the emergence of life, you could also add rangers for a hike through Closed Canyon at Big Bend Ranch State Park from 10 m to 12 p.m. You can choose to spend time outside instead of participating in the biggest shopping day of the year at further parks all over the state.
December
At the Christmas with the Fishes event on December 2, join us from 1 to 3 p.m. at Sea Center Texas for an underground trip spectacular. While Mrs. Claus reads a strange Christmas story, Sandy Claus and his watery elves did tumble and enhance the Gulf Tank. All of your aquatic-related inquiries can be addressed directly from the container by Santa. If individuals bring a packaged fine to donate, they can write letters to Santa, play Christmas matches, and get Christmas crafts.
Bring your festive spirit and artistic aspect to Caddo Lake State Park on December 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. Join park staff as they decorate the hallways, enjoy hot cocoa, eat cookies for a snack, and create ornaments. There will be no shortage of supplies.
Santa’s deer may not be present in our gardens, but there are many of their family. All ages are welcome to join soldiers at Ray Roberts Lake State Park from 2 to 3 p.m. on December 9 to learn more about the elk that call our gardens house.
On December 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., enjoy the holiday season at Goose Island State Park. Visitors are welcome to take a free tour of the live oak forest, see lit-up camping, and interact with Santa’s Village area staff for holiday activities like sports, warm cocoa around the campfire. From December 8 to 9, tourists who agree to enhance their campsite will have their fees waived.
We invite you to sit back and unwind with us for Cowboy Christmas Music and Poetry, regardless of whether you really got off a cattle drive or got out of your car. Bring your best singing voice to Copper Breaks State Park on December 9 between 6 and 7 p.m. to take part in the holidays.
Learn how to prepare a special holiday address at the Lockhart State Park Taffy Pull from 1 to 2 p.m. on December 16. Visit us as we learn how to make candy and get our hands messy. As soon as it cools down, you can eat it or save it to provide to a loved one. All age are encouraged.
At our monthly Posada on December 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fort Leaton State Historic Site, experience the vacation customs of the borders. In Spanish, the word”posada” means “inn” or” house.” Through songs and skits, this classic Mexican Christmas traditions recounts Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. Conventional holiday drinks, snacks, piatas, and mariachi may be served after the procession through the thousands of stars. Individuals can take a guided trip or move the candle-lit fort’s rooms on their own.
Travel take part in the 54th Annual Tree Lighting at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site on December 17 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Watch the live celebration, visit Santa Clause, enjoy some holiday refreshments, and get in the magnificent tree while listening to carolers. Finally, at night, travel back in time and visit the Sauer-Beckmann Farm. The atmosphere created by the way light by lanterns, the real Christmas trees in the room, and the live music transports you to the turn of the century when a true Texas-German Christmas was celebrated.
