A federal judge issued a new injunction just one time before a contentious Texas law on illegal immigration was set to go into effect, ruling that the majority of the law would never pass legal scrutiny before the U.S. Supreme Court.
In his opposition to Texas Senate Bill ( SB ) 4’s passage in 2024, U.S. District Judge David A. Ezra argued that the law” threatens the fundamental notion that the United States must regulate immigration with one voice.”
