In the first quarter of 2026, state representative James Talarico (D-Austin ), the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, raised a record-breaking$ 27 million, nearly triple what incumbent Texas senator John Cornyn (R-TX ) did.
As Attorney General Ken Paxton, Cornyn, and Talarico build up their war chest, the Texas U.S. Senate contest is still raging. Talarico has earned$ 10 million since the March 3 primary election, and he has nearly$ 9.9 million in cash on hand at the end of March, according to the Federal Election Commission ( FEC ), after receiving$ 19.6 million in receipts and spending$ 14.5 million on disbursements during that period.
