Incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) and challenger Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton are headed to a runoff election in May to determine which of them will be the Republican nominee in the U.S. Senate race come November, after weeding out Congressman Wesley Hunt (R-TX-38).
Cornyn earned 43 percent of the vote, while Paxton earned 40 percent as of 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. Hunt collected about 13 percent of the vote.
