Grassroots activists in Kerrville feel more free this primary season to reach out to friends and neighbors about elections after the city rescinded two ordinances they say were impeding their efforts to share information about candidates and to turn out voters.
After local activist group Liberty In Action (LIA) Network sued the city over the ordinances, claiming they infringed on their First Amendment rights to engage with fellow residents about election matters, the city repealed the electioneering ordinance in April 2025. It repealed a second in January 2026.
