Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is asking that Camp Mystic, where 28 lives were taken during the July 4 flooding in Texas last year, not be granted a license for operation until further investigation and “corrective” action is taken.
Patrick wrote to Texas Department of State Health Services Commissioner Dr. Jennifer Shuford on Monday, expressing concern that the Kerrville-based camp had not yet properly acknowledged the over two dozen deaths which occurred there on Independence Day weekend, 2025.
