A bipartisan coalition of state lawmakers are requesting that Texas’ U.S. senators reject a federal moratorium on state regulation of artificial intelligence (AI), arguing that it would strip the state’s protective measures.
In a letter led by state Sen. Angela Paxton (R-McKinney), 16 state senators urged U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and John Cornyn (R-TX) to adopt a position against any federal preemption of state regulations on AI for the foreseeable future, although not naming specific federal legislation at hand on the issue.
