The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) hangs in the balance as the government shutdown hit its 30th day, and Texas Democrats are urging Gov. Greg Abbott to act.
A letter sent to Abbott from 12 Democratic members of the Texas Senate asks him to “act now” by unlocking state funds to fill in the gaps that would be missed if the federal government does not provide relief to Texas SNAP beneficiaries.
