In a controversial tort reform bill intended to stymie “nuclear verdicts,” the debate over professional legalese was subsumed by horrific tales of horrible deaths, tragic injuries, torrential intimate abuse, and belly-up small businesses.
House Bill ( HB) 4806, the lower chamber’s version of the marquee tort reform item making its way through the Texas Capitol, received testimony from the Texas House Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence (JCJ) Committee. All eyes are now on the House and its JCJ Committee, who will be monitoring the outcome of the biggest advocacy struggle that is almost unheard of outside of Austin. The Senate passed its concern version next month.
