Higher Calling Wildlife® is pleased to announce the winner of the Tony Houseman Conservation Legacy Award is Grayson Highfield, age 27, from Cody, WY.
Chester Moore, the leader of Higher Calling Wildlife, gave her the prize at the 2024 ceremony.Summit for Hunt-Fish Podcasts taking place Sat. at Warren Ranch. March 23.
” Tony Houseman was a Houston Safari Club Foundation president and one of my first mentors, in truth, at the very beginning. When I did n’t have a real media resume to speak of, he noticed something in me and aided in my early career, Moore said.
Highfield has worked with the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and has done everything from fire control to interpretive work. She graduated from the Wild Sheep Foundation’s 2023 Women Hunt ® program.
” She’s a real head- getter and has miles and miles of spirit. She has been using her higher level of writing skills and unique story to raise awareness of wildlife conservation, hunting, and fish. Tony may be glad of her if he were still alive, Moore said.
Houseman’s family Gisela, who has supported two Higher Calling Wildlife Missions through her philanthropic endeavors, has remained in touch with Moore.
Highfield described being chosen as the Tony Houseman Conservation Legacy Award recipient in 2024 as a great pride.

Highfeild noted that Chester’s story of one of Houseman’s last hunts ( a green hunt for a rhinoceros ) has inspired her.
As a brand-new warrior, I’m so excited to explore new avenues that intersect at the powerful intersection of hunting and conservation, thanks to this story, which has helped me re-define what it means in my own mind.
Through conservation-focused expeditions, Higher Calling Wildlife assists teenagers who are facing particular challenges like critical disease, parent loss, and different issues to be wildlife conservationists.
The Houston Safari Club Foundation provided part of the funding for the 2022 and 2023 missions to Colorado. Information on these excursions were published in their Hunter’s Horn newspaper.
For expeditions in Colorado and the Yellowstone area, they are already looking for sponsors.
